Vuokatin Vaellus has been organized every autumn since 1945, so on September 14, 2024, Vuokatin Vaellus event will be held for the 80th time. The main organizers behind the Raatteen Maraton arrangements are Suomussalmi Rasti and the municipality of Suomussalmi. Since the beginning of the event, Kainuun Liikunta ry has also assisted in the organisation, marketing and administration work, and it will continue as a partner of the event in the coming year. The aim of Kainuun Liikunta is to help the municipalities of Kainuu to launch and organize profitable sports events that support tourism in the region.

Raatteen Maraton will be run on the third weekend of August, Saturday 17.8.2024. You should reserve time for the marathon trip for the whole weekend while enjoying the rich cultural offerings of Suomussalmi and getting acquainted with Raate’s military history. It is also worth visiting Hossa National Park, where you can easily spend several days.
