Vuokatti Hiihto:

National enforcement of the fluoride ban continues in the 2025–2026 season

The use of fluoride-containing ski waxes or other fluoride-based products related to ski preparation
was prohibited in all competitions under the International Ski Federation (FIS) at all levels starting from
the 2023–2024 season. In the 2024–2025 season, enforcement of the fluoride ban was also introduced
in domestic competitions. The use of fluoride is prohibited in all competitions under FIS and the
Finnish Ski Association (FSA) at all levels. Both national and international enforcement of the fluoride
ban will continue in the 2025–2026 season.

Mass start races are subject to the fluoride ban and testing, as the ban applies to all competitions
organized under the Finnish Ski Association and to all participants. In mass start events, and
especially in Vuokatti Hiihto, particular attention is paid to the top athletes in the competitive
categories, among whom the most prestigious medals are decided and prize money is awarded. The
aim of fluoride control in mass start races is to ensure fair competition.
The testing protocol is carried out by a tester certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the
Finnish Ski Association (FSA).
