Tour de Kainuu is a road cycling event in the stunning hilly landscapes of Kainuu. In this communal event, participants ride in different speed groups without competition, enjoying the landscape and cycling itself. Riders can choose between the 151 km Vaarojen kierto route, the 81 km Tour de Nuas route or 34 km Tour de Sotkamo route which can also be completed with an e-bike.

An entire day of cycling enjoyment
Last year, the community-oriented Tour de Kainuu, which had been condensed into a one-day event, will in 2026 feature renewed routes and a new 34 km stage, the Tour de Sotkamo. The cycling routes are characterized by long, gentle climbs with rewarding scenery, as well as extended downhill sections that offer a chance to recover.
Cycling in a group
In Tour de Kainuu participants ride in pre-determinated speed groups. The event is non- competitive with no timing involved emphasizing community spirit and positive atmosphere created within the groups. Participation is open for all even with less cycling experience.
