One of Finland’s most emotional marathon events, the Raatteen Marathon, will be run next on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The historic course of the Raatteen Marathon passes key battle sites and memorials from the Winter War. The event is a tribute to the veteran generation of the Raate Road and their enduring legacy.
Distances for everyone
Participants can choose from a wide range of distances: the Marathon 42.2 km, Velorun 42.2 km (a run–cycling relay), the Half Marathon 21.1 km, or a 10 km race.
Younger family members are also warmly welcomed – children have their own 429-metre Leijona Marathon, where the joy of movement is what matters most.
Slightly over half of the marathon course is run on gravel roads, with the remainder on asphalt, offering a varied and engaging running surface set in beautiful scenery.
Event centre and registration
For the 2026 event, the event centre and race office will move from Kiannon Kuohu to the Suomussalmi Sports Hall, located at Urheilukatu 3. The new facilities will provide smooth and comfortable services for both runners and spectators.
